Do it for the future generations!

I’ve often asked my friends if there would be anything wrong with raising my hypothetical child on cartoons solely from my generation? Maybe I’m biased, but as a current cartoon watcher, ours seem so much better!

Luckily for my hypothetical child (and my niece) (and me), Amazon is selling many of the complete series box sets of the biggest names of our day for half off*!

More than meets the eye

I don’t know where people like Pete Marin come up with the time or the money for projects like this, but I’m all for it. Made out of wood and foam, Bumblebee is 12ft tall and took two months to build. Optimus Prime took over 6 months to build and towers 17ft high. With dimensions like that, expenses had to include not only the materials, molds and tools, but cherry pickers or something! Absolutely bizarre and amazing…

He plans to followup with Decepticons Barrage and Megatron in 2010.

Never trust a squirrel

This photo from Matt Parsons serves as a cautionary tale for the coming Robot Wars. You never know WHO is going to be turncoat! Please report and suspicious activity to the appropriate authority!

Impractical jaguar

I can’t decide how I feel about this. On one hand, I <3 Ravage. I think it is the only Transformer I still have from my childhood. And this is a really good rendition of him and a clever concept.

On the other had, it's $43 for 2GB. And maybe I’m less organized than other people, but how would you transport this? In USB form with the port hanging out or in jaguar form with the limbs hanging out? These two considerations combined with the offer of a $2 more expensive “Collector’s Grade” points to this being a collectible and who wants a collectible flash drive?

That being said, if this plugged into a Soundwave MP3 player, I would buy it in a SECOND!

**UPDATE**

Turns out this is just one of many upcoming Transformer USB peripherals. Also coming out: Grimlock & Tripticon as Laser Mouses (Mice?), Tigatron as another Flash Drive and Blaster as a USB Hub!

Who’s a douchebag?

Michael Bay is a douchebag. This evidence comes from comicbookmovie.com. I’ve excerpted the douchebaggiest parts:

Michael Bay’s Star Trek Connection

Transformers director Michael Bay may be exploiting his cousin, wife of Leonard Nimoy, to get the Spock actor to voice a Transformer.

“I’m still not done with all the voices,” Bay explained recently about the “Revenge of the Fallen” robot casting for the film, which hits theaters on June 24th.

You might think that their familial ties would make such a deal easier; Bay, however has said that it’s quite the opposite.

“[Nimoy] is married to Susan Bay, who’s a cousin to me,” Michael explained, saying that he’s afraid of insulting his famous relative with the meager amount he is able to pay his voice actors. “I just feel kind of bad about asking him. Like ‘I can’t pay you that much? But would you do this voice?’”

So Michael hasn’t worked up the nerve yet to ask his famous cousin. Instead, the pair have been using a third relative as a go-between.

“Would he do it?” Bay asked. “He suggested to my mom that he might do it.”

I feel so bad for Michael Bay that the first Transformers movie only made $319 million, so he can’t afford to pay Nimoy very much and has to get his mom to twist his cousin’s arm to get her to guilt her husband into working on the cheap.

*GROAN* What a douchebag.
