Do it for the future generations!

I’ve often asked my friends if there would be anything wrong with raising my hypothetical child on cartoons solely from my generation? Maybe I’m biased, but as a current cartoon watcher, ours seem so much better!

Luckily for my hypothetical child (and my niece) (and me), Amazon is selling many of the complete series box sets of the biggest names of our day for half off*!

By the power of adorableness

Somethings destroy your faith in humanity. Other things restore it.

Angus MacLane’s CubeDudes* give me the ultimate warm fuzzies inside. They are such clever, recognizable recreations of dearly loved characters. I find them to be just delightful! He has a HUGE library including all your favorites from comics, cartoons, television and movies. Please do yourself (and your cold insides) a favor and peruse them all! Or, if you live in Seattle, go see them at Brickcon this weekend!

Things I need

My unvalidated ambivalence toward this trailer makes me feel the need to admit that I do know that this movie will be bad. The CGI is going to be awkward, along with the acting and action.

But I don’t care. I need to keep believing. Come hell or high water, for one reason or another, it needs to be good. It opens the day after my birthday and I want to see the midnight showing and not feel I’ve started the next year of my life by shoving hot pokers in my eyes. So I’m going to keep believing, hope beyond hope, that there is some way this movie will be awesome.

Violence is the other half of the battle

Of all the summer movies I’m looking forward to (Wolverine, Star Trek and..ahem.. Harry Potter), G.I Joe has me the most worried. Partially because the original content is best left as a childhood memory (see also: Thundercats) and partially because they gave Snake Eyes a rubber costume with veins and lips.

In an attempt to assuage my fears, Hasbro/Adult Swim have released G.I. Joe: Resolute - ten 5-minutes webisodes of violent manga-esque goodness. Above is episode #1 in which shit gets fucked up and people actually die! Looks good so far!
