This is what I will be doing Feb 5th

Um, what? I haven’t watched Smallville in YEARS. What happened? So, Clark can’t fly on Smallville in order to keep him “grounded”, but meanwhile they will introduce the ENTIRETY of the Justice Society? BWAHAHAhahahHAha…

Ok, now that I’m over the initial shock, I totally have to watch this. I love seeing live action superpowers and this looks like it is going to be *amazing* one way or another.

Any ideas on a drinking game?

Another comic movie

I loved the updated The Losers comic from Vertigo. It was the right combination of edgy, gritty and surprising. And, while I did occasionally have trouble telling the difference between the lead male characters early on, I thought the art style was dead on for the story.

So now we come to The Losers movie. When Jeffrey Dean Morgan was cast, that seemed like a move in the right direction. His gritty portrayal of the Comedian seemed like it would lend nicely to his version of Clay. Zoe Saldana has proven herself in many a geek movie by now and Chris Evans is never hard on the eyes. Seems promising.

Tonight, ET will be showing the first Trailer. This promo makes it look a little more colorful and campy than I had been envisioning it, but it still looks awfully fun. What do you think?

I’m out of fingers for Lantern rings!

Does this mean what I think it means? Are we getting White Lanterns? That sure looks like a Lantern Ring icon to me!

If my jell-o brain remembers correctly, DC has been calling white lantern light the “light of creation”, which makes me very curious about what a white lantern would be able to do - sounds pretty godlike. Like Nekron, will there just be one? It has to be a female, right? I mean c’mon, now.

I’m submitting an official prediction: Blackest Night #8 will be a one on one battle between Black Lantern Nekron and White Lantern… I have to go Wonder Woman! Either that or the Sorceress from MotU.

Just when I thought I was out-they pull me back in

Wow.. this March cover of Red Robin really makes me wish I was still reading Bat-titles. Am I kidding myself that it will be just as fun to read in 6 months when all the trades come out? Are these stories good enough thatpeople will still be willing to discuss them with me then?

Or should I go to the Bridge City Comics and open a box and start collecting comics again…? *groan*

NPH is the best bad guy ever

When I noticed that the Batman: The Brave And The Bold “Mayhem Of The Music Meister!” episode soundtrack was on sale at Amazon for $5, I had to go and peruse it’s musical offerings.

I’m not one to resist anything that features Neil Patrick Harris singing (here as the Music Meister) - much less something set in the DC universe! I was delighted to find this disparaging little ditty about everyone’s favorite flying rat. *SO GOOD* Who knew Aquaman had such a lovely voice?

Nic Cage - livin’ the dream and killing ours

Yuck. Or should I say “Yuc”?

Back in the ’90s there was a superhero scare that Nic Cage might have gotten to live out his every dream by playing Superman under the direction of Tim Burton. Had that “crisis” not been retconned*, we might have been subjected to the horror show above. Recently released by timburton.jp, this is supposed to be one of Cage’s costume tests for Superman Lives.

Luckily, the movie was way over budget and eventually scrapped. Now the only Superhero related trauma Nic Cage can inflict is upon his poor son, Kal-el.

*LOL, I’m so funny!

Will the real Batgirl please stand up?

I will admit that I was pretty disappointed when the mysterious Batgirl was revealed to be Stephanie Brown (aka Spoiler). Stephanie has been wedged into the batfamily several times, and none have them have ended well (see her dying and Gotham being torn apart by gang wars).

With this in mind, I was very happy to see in this week’s Batgirl #2, Babs will be taking her to task. This scene made me fangirl squeel a little :)

ps. The image at the top is an upcoming Batgirl toy. This costume hasn’t been featured in the comic yet, but how long can Spoiler go without adding in some purple?

This is why I Twitter

Jim Lee gave away this unused splash page from Batman and Robin to the first person who retweeted “can’t wait for game by @dcuo”. GAH. @billenglish is one lucky bastard!

How the Birds of Prey have fallen…

Hal's threesome

Awesome. Thanks, DC. Cancel an awesome book like Birds of Prey, full of strong kickass females and then whore out those characters to make a three panel joke. That’s just great. Fuckers.

*writing a strongly worded letter to James Robinson, writer of JLA: Cry for Justice (how ironic) explaining to him how to not be a misogynist bastard in the future*

Ummm…..

*Looking away uncomfortably*

Honey, I shrunk JLA

Google has a gorgeous SDCC inspired logo today, as drawn by comic legend Jim Lee. But it’s itty bitty! You can hardly make out that the second “O” is Wonder Woman’s invisible jet!

Luckily, DC Comics has supplied us with the full size image. Click here for a wallpaper size or the image above for the full majesty!
