Angus MacLane’sCubeDudes* give me the ultimate warm fuzzies inside. They are such clever, recognizable recreations of dearly loved characters. I find them to be just delightful! He has a HUGE library including all your favorites from comics, cartoons, television and movies. Please do yourself (and your cold insides) a favor and peruse them all! Or, if you live in Seattle, go see them at Brickcon this weekend!
I cannot wait to see 2012!
Do I think it’s going to be any good? No.
Do I want to see it because it is starring John Cusack? No.
Do I think it is going to be some epically amazing CGI that might make my brain explode if I see it in an IMAX theater? HELL YES. Sign me up!

Everything will be awesome on Feb. 16th, 2010 because that is when Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth is being released. I absolutely adore the Phoenix Wright series and this newest version looks amazing. There was a great inconsistency in previous Phoenix Wright games about how much detective work you got to do besides interrogating and searching. It appears that alternate techniques will be abundant in this latest game. CAN NOT WAIT.
This pic makes me so happy! Taken by Alyson Hannigan, herself, it features her husband Alexis Denisof (right) and David Boreanaz(center) at the Emmy awards last Sunday night. I think it is so awesome that not only are all these great people finding success post-Buffy, but they are all still great friends. Good people doing good things - I’m all for it!
ps. How great would it be if Nathan Fillion and David Boreanaz co-starred in something together?!?! I would love to see Nathan in this dance party with David and Alexis :)
Back in the ’90s there was a superhero scare that Nic Cage might have gotten to live out his every dream by playing Superman under the direction of Tim Burton. Had that “crisis” not been retconned*, we might have been subjected to the horror show above. Recently released by timburton.jp, this is supposed to be one of Cage’s costume tests for Superman Lives.
Luckily, the movie was way over budget and eventually scrapped. Now the only Superhero related trauma Nic Cage can inflict is upon his poor son, Kal-el.
OMG. They are building “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” attraction at the Universal Studios in Orlando. Opening in Spring 2010, it will include all the hotspots of Hogsmead and Hogwarts itself. Check out the video above for a virtual tour (starting at 1:00 mark).
This is going to be so amazing. I am sad that I will never be able to go there because it will never stop being wildly popular - I can’t even begin to imagine the crowds. Maybe when I win the lottery, I can just rent the whole park out for a day.
I think I’ve made my love for Neil Patrick Harris pretty clear on this blog, so the news that I watched the Emmy’s last night should be of no surprise. It’s the most mainstream thing I’ve done all year! But it wasn’t just NPH that drew me in, it was the promise of a Dr. Horrible production halfway through the show!
When I first heard about it, I was puzzled. I had to take a step outside of the nerd box and ask myself, “If Joss Whedon a household name in middle America? How will they make Dr. Horrible understandable to those without context?” But I needed have worried. While the characterizations were a bit off, and the background was bluescreened, the content was hilarious and generic enough to be understandable to the “Whedonless”.
One thing the casual viewer wouldn’t get though, was the awkward representation of Joss Whedon’s support of new mediums (reiterated as recently as Joss’s acceptance speech at the Creative Arts Emmys). Dr. Horrible’s support of the internet as a new entertainment medium was merely self effacing jokes and Captain Hammer definitely stole the show. What do you think the take home message was supposed to be?
I haven’t talked about PAX much yet, but I wanted to make sure to mention one of my biggest surprises. I attented the Splinter Cell: Conviction & Assassin’s Creed 2 demo expecting to be stoked on SC:C and bored by AC2. Instead, the SC:C demo had virtually NO new content (Booo!), and the Assassin’s Creed demo was fantastic!
The newly released gameplay video above covers most of the content that was demo’d live at PAX. I know it was live, because producer Patrice Désilets very nearly lost a fight with a group of guards, which was great. The demo covered a lot of interesting new gameplay including being able to blend in with groups of people (in the video look for Ezio, our new assassin, walking through a group and them all turning grey), pickpocketing money from any NPC and being able to pay off mercenaries to fight for you. It looks like Ubisoft listened to the complaints about Assassin’s Creed one being too monotonous!
Thinkgeek has two excellent Star Trek products that test my nerd limits. The shirt above is HILARIOUS, but I don’t think I would actually wear it. The wall decals below are STUNNING, but I don’t think I could dedicate a whole room to looking like the bridge of the Enterprise.
I feel like I’m letting myself down with these arbitrary lines in the geek sand I’m not willing to cross. I think I need to take some time to myself to sit and ponder what kind of nerd I really am.
