Who’s your daddy?

Adidas’s “Star Wars Superstar Darth Vader Track Top”

Adidas is expanding from their expansive (currently sold out) Star Wars shoe line into a head to head competition with Marc Ecko’s Star Wars clothing line.

Adidas’s Vader Jacket is flashy - and no one can deny the appeal of a removable cape. But the Ecko Vader Jacket succeeds in simplicity and subtlety. If you don’t zip up the Vader Mask (which is hella creepy), it could pass as a regular hoodie that only your nerd brethern would give you a knowing nod for.

I wonder how many other versions of things Ecko is already making Adidas will try their hand at. Ecko has had a lot of missteps in his line (truly ugly shit), he has also had some amazing successes (see: all the hoodies). Either way, more fodder for us fans!

Speaking of Star Wars…

I’m putting this up for my benefit as much as yours. Justin Van Genderen has made these gorgeous travel posters for Star Wars planets and is navigating copyright issues to see if he can print them. Simple, subtle and yet totally recognizable, these posters are incredibly appealing.

Maybe if Sith Lucas puts the kabosh on them, Justin can offer higher resolution images that people can print out themselves? Until this resolves, this stands as a reminder to keep an eye out!

You’re my only hope…

Built in 2009 for Star Wars Days at Legoland California, this Star Wars: A New Hope Lego Chess set took two months to make. Not only are the standard characters brilliantly posed (please note Luck and Leia recreating the movie poster), but there are some great movie moments picked out and featured. The Dark Side’s rook is none other than Greedo waiting to shoot first. Close up shots can be found here,

Impending goodness

Looks like Teefury has some geeky goodness coming up in the next week! Remember, their shirts are only available for one day, so stay on top of it!

Is it better to be naughty or nice?

You really can’t touch this*

Storm Troopers doing anything with character is hilarious (exhibit A).
Storm Troopers as Vader’s back up dancers for an amazing rendition of “You Can’t Touch This”? Pure awesome.
Storm Troopers and Darth Vader doing Thriller? Well, you’ll have to see below.

May the force feed your face

Huzzah! I first discovered these utensils of excellence a few months ago, but at that time there was no clues as to availability or even if they would be released in the US. Later, it was revealed that they would be available at SDCC, but no other information for a wider release.

NOW, Kotobukiya’s Star Wars Lightsaber Chopsticks are available for pre-order! So rad! Available at the Big Bad Toy Store!

Dirty wookiee!

I love behind the scenes photos! Some people complain that it damages their ability to suspend disbelief, but for me seeing what it takes to make my favorite movies come to life only makes me appreciate them more!

That being said, it is obvious that i would *love* this set of rare behind the scenes pictures from the Star Wars sets. There’s pictures of everyone, including a unmasked C3-PO and an unfinished R2-D2! Also, pics of Leia and Luke being goofballs on set. Check them out here!

Rosencranz & Guildenstern are stormtroopers?

We’ve seen a lot of people doing excellent photography with action figures, and in that way, Stéfan Le Dû’s work is nothing new. What is delightful about it is that he has committed to taking a new picture of his stormtrooper duo everyday for one year. He started April 3rd, 2009 and already the results are delightful! Check it out here!

After the credits

Sure, we all cheered when the Death Star blew up. Luke was a hero, Leia and Han lived happily ever after. But at what cost? What about the brave men and women (?) who were just doing their jobs, just following orders? What became of them after the holy trinity rode off into the sunset?

Can we all please take a moment to consider the plight of the stormtrooper…

The rodentia are selling us out!

If it’s not dinobots, it’s the Empire! They’ll do anything for a sack of nuts! Never trust a city dwelling rodent! Luckily, we can still trust Ewoks to have our backs!
