Okay, now we can be friends again

iron-man-and-cap

I love this painting by Daniel Clarke. It absolutely captures the vindication I think a lot of readers would like to see in the post-Civil War era. A one-hit smack down of epic proportions. Glorious :)

This is what I will be doing Feb 5th

Um, what? I haven’t watched Smallville in YEARS. What happened? So, Clark can’t fly on Smallville in order to keep him “grounded”, but meanwhile they will introduce the ENTIRETY of the Justice Society? BWAHAHAhahahHAha…

Ok, now that I’m over the initial shock, I totally have to watch this. I love seeing live action superpowers and this looks like it is going to be *amazing* one way or another.

Any ideas on a drinking game?

Another comic movie

I loved the updated The Losers comic from Vertigo. It was the right combination of edgy, gritty and surprising. And, while I did occasionally have trouble telling the difference between the lead male characters early on, I thought the art style was dead on for the story.

So now we come to The Losers movie. When Jeffrey Dean Morgan was cast, that seemed like a move in the right direction. His gritty portrayal of the Comedian seemed like it would lend nicely to his version of Clay. Zoe Saldana has proven herself in many a geek movie by now and Chris Evans is never hard on the eyes. Seems promising.

Tonight, ET will be showing the first Trailer. This promo makes it look a little more colorful and campy than I had been envisioning it, but it still looks awfully fun. What do you think?

I’m the goddamn Batman!

stealthiest

Just discovered random-domain. They’ve got some pretty funny comics over there including this gem about Avatar. Pickings are slim, but funny!

I’m out of fingers for Lantern rings!

Does this mean what I think it means? Are we getting White Lanterns? That sure looks like a Lantern Ring icon to me!

If my jell-o brain remembers correctly, DC has been calling white lantern light the “light of creation”, which makes me very curious about what a white lantern would be able to do - sounds pretty godlike. Like Nekron, will there just be one? It has to be a female, right? I mean c’mon, now.

I’m submitting an official prediction: Blackest Night #8 will be a one on one battle between Black Lantern Nekron and White Lantern… I have to go Wonder Woman! Either that or the Sorceress from MotU.

Just when I thought I was out-they pull me back in

Wow.. this March cover of Red Robin really makes me wish I was still reading Bat-titles. Am I kidding myself that it will be just as fun to read in 6 months when all the trades come out? Are these stories good enough thatpeople will still be willing to discuss them with me then?

Or should I go to the Bridge City Comics and open a box and start collecting comics again…? *groan*

Can it be May now, please?

*SWOON*

I haven’t seen Sherlock Holmes yet, but I’m going to go out on a limb and say that if all Robert Downey Jr. made for the rest of his life was sequels to Iron Man and Sherlock Holmes, the world would be better for it.

This looks like another incredibly charismatic and fun movie - everything I loved about Iron Man.

Now for some fretting: Seeing Don Cheadle in the War Machine armor was a little.. odd, but I’m willing to hold off judgment. I had hoped to see something from Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow that we hadn’t seen before, but I will have to wait for that too. I also have concerns that Olivia Munn will be playing Melina Vostokoff, aka The Iron Maiden, a Russian agent who was overshadowed by the Black Widow and thus wanted to kill her. God forbid Johansson and Munn have any scenes together - neither could act their way out of a box…

But I get ahead of myself.. for now.. I will just *SWOON*

Selina’s gone to the dogs…

Adam Hughes will do anything for charity. Or at least he’ll turn Selina Kyle into Old English Sheepdog Woman to support the Old English Sheepdog Rescue Network of the South East. Inspired by his own two sheepdogs, Adam Hughes offered this 20″ X 14″ piece up for auction raising $2,551.00! For a closer look, go to Adam Hughes’ Deviant Art page.

ps. Yewoch, AH! Tell us how you really feel about Selina’s baby!

I love surprise nerdocity!

I generally don’t expect to see much geekery at my work. So when one of my bosses brought in a quilt his wife had made for their grandchildren and it was this awesome superhero extravaganza, I was completely caught off guard! I held back as he named all the characters he could remember (”Flash Gordon? Flash Man?”) and then I asked if I could take some pictures of it.

Unfortunately, my phone’s camera did a pretty shitty job, but you get the idea of it’s heroicness!

I just love it when amulets tell you to do stuff!

As I am currently without a pen & paper roleplaying game, I was very happy to discover the Dungeons & Dragons themed webcomic, Guilded Age. It feels like a D&D game you’d play with your clever, wisecracking friends without the meta mockery of stereotypical nerds.

Great art + great archetypes + a fun story = Very satisfying. Go check it out!

NPH is the best bad guy ever

When I noticed that the Batman: The Brave And The Bold “Mayhem Of The Music Meister!” episode soundtrack was on sale at Amazon for $5, I had to go and peruse it’s musical offerings.

I’m not one to resist anything that features Neil Patrick Harris singing (here as the Music Meister) - much less something set in the DC universe! I was delighted to find this disparaging little ditty about everyone’s favorite flying rat. *SO GOOD* Who knew Aquaman had such a lovely voice?

All must bow before SPARKLELORD

… I don’t even know what to say about this…

From the genius world of Dr. McNinja comes the maligned hater of all things radical, Sparklelord! The Sparklelord is also a fancy motorcycle. And might be a good guy since the King of Radical is Dr. McNinja’s nemesis.

It’s all a bit confusing - why don’t you go read it for yourself. And then go buy the totally awesome print of Sparklelord for your bedroom!
